Disease pattern

CFS is a disease pattern that is often not completely definable. The main symptom is severe fatigue (debilitating mental and physical exhaustion or exhaustibility) that persists over a long period of time.

CFS is said to occur when severe fatigue lasts for more than 6 months. This rather rare disease occurs most frequently in women between the ages of 20 and 50. Since CFS can run in families, a genetic predisposition is also suspected.

The symptoms sometimes begin during or shortly after another illness. Affected individuals feel tired and lack energy, even if they have enough time to rest.

Most often CFS forms after a combination of several aspects such as viral, bacterial or parasitic infections, exposure to certain substances and generally when there are problems with the immune system. Typically, these symptoms will subside over time, but they can also last for years.

Therapy

INUSpheresis. Use for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)

Since INUSpheresis® washes out the inflammatory substances, pro-inflammatory cytokines, autoantibodies and circulating immune complexes caused by inflammatory processes, its use in chronic fatigue syndrome, insofar as it is caused by latent chronic inflammation, is certainly a useful complementary therapeutic measure.

Prevention

Chronic inflammatory processes and CFS

Medical research has not yet been able to provide a clear clarification of the causes. Still, the involvement of latent chronic subthreshold inflammation is observed in most cases. In CFS patients, the activation of proinflammatory cytokines could also be observed.
