Answers to frequently asked questions from our patients

The question should be rephrased as: For whom is it not suitable? Every human being is exposed to environmental stresses. This makes a reduction of toxic stress - in addition to a healthy lifestyle - a sensible measure for everyone. Especially, people with chronic diseases can improve their health with INUSpheresis® .
However, there are patient groups for whom we do not perform INUSpheresis® . This applies in particular to patients with acute heart disease, past strokes, terminal cancer, acute inflammation with fever, organ failure or psychiatric illnesses such as psychoses or anxiety neuroses, as well as multimorbid patients.
A thorough preliminary examination including your individual health situation is the basic prerequisite for therapy with INUSpheresis®. The treatment with INUSpheresis® includes the medical diagnosis by means of a questionnaire, the treatment of INUSpheresis® as well as the pre- and post-treatment interview. If desired, the filter eluate can be analyzed externally by a laboratory after the treatment.
The therapy itself is gentle and painless. First, two infusion lines are placed in the crook of your arm, one on the left and one on the right. The blood flows to the machine's disposable filter system, is cleaned there and returned to the other arm. You should allow about 2 to 3 hours for one session.
Just one treatment with INUSpheresis® removes toxic and pathogenic substances from the blood and improves blood circulation. These successes are measurable and can be documented after the therapy. The recommendation on how often or in which period of time INUSpheresis® should be performed has to be coordinated individually and after thorough anamnesis. The results of the preliminary examinations as well as therapy recommendations will be discussed with you in detail and coordinated entirely according to your wishes.
As a rule, two treatments are recommended, with one day without treatment between two treatments. Before the first and after the second treatment there is a discussion with the attending physician.
Our specialist practice is centrally located directly at the streetcar station near the SBB train station in Basel, which is within walking distance. If you would like to reach us by car, you have the possibility to park your vehicle in two nearby parking garages.
During the treatment, it is especially important for us to be able to take care of you completely. Use the time of the treatment to come to rest and to concentrate completely on yourself. We, therefore, ask you to refrain from being accompanied. In case of a pressing request for company, we ask you to discuss this with us in advance.
Our medical services are tailored to the specific needs of each patient. Costs may therefore vary depending on the type and extent of treatment, the materials used and the patient's individual situation.
We place a high priority on educating our patients about cost so they can make informed decisions. We understand that cost is an important factor when deciding on medical treatment, and we strive to inform our patients about this to the best of our ability.
If you need more information about the cost of our medical services or have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
Please feel free to contact us so we can help you make an informed decision. We are here to help you with any questions or concerns you may have about cost.
The costs for INUSpheresis® treatment are generally not covered by Swiss health insurance companies and must therefore be financed privately. However, depending on the previous illness and medical history, cost coverage may be possible after individual assessment. Please contact your health insurance company regarding this matter.
Our body is a complex and fascinating system that is constantly working to protect us from the many toxins we are exposed to on a daily basis. To illustrate this, let's look at the example of the liver, our most important detoxification organ. The liver acts as a kind of filter and biochemical laboratory that removes harmful substances from the blood. It converts these toxins into less harmful substances, which can then be safely excreted via the kidneys and urine or through the bile and stool. This constant cleansing process is crucial for our health and well-being. It is a continuous and dynamic process that shows how remarkably our body is geared to protect and balance itself, even in the face of daily confrontation with environmental toxins.
If our body is chronically overloaded, this can lead to a variety of health problems, as toxins can also accumulate in the body and especially in the cellular matrix due to organ overload. This can lead to an impairment of important bodily functions and increase the risk of chronic diseases
