Cells are the basic building blocks of our body.

The cell membrane is the essential component of a cell; a shell of lipids and proteins that separates each cell from its environment.
The membrane is not just a "container", but actively contributes to the life of a cell and maintains the internal environment of the cell.
The functionality of cell membranes is an essential factor that contributes to human health, but can lead to disease if dysfunction occurs.

Disturbed membrane processes and diseases: The membrane has receptors that make a cell "recognizable" and which react to chemical substances.
Chemical reactions at receptors can alter or control cell functions. In particular, fat-dissolving agents that are ubiquitous in our civilization (e.g. gasoline vapors, surfactants from dishwashing detergents, soaps and shampoos) continuously damage our cell membranes.
A healthy cell membrane purposefully controls which chemicals and other substances (e.g. vitamins, minerals, trace elements, amino acids, fats, etc.) can and should enter and leave the cell (e.g. used end products). Defects in these membrane transport processes can promote or even cause the development of many different diseases. For example, autophagy is a typical process, a kind of recycling or repair mechanism, in which cells digest their own components without harming themselves. In aging research, the question of how to enable healthy aging is being investigated in this context (in the case of disturbed regeneration processes due to disturbances in membrane transport).
Another example in young brains is the link between defective cell membrane channels and impaired brain development. Here, defective HCN channels ("cell entrances" that are opened by excessive polarization, also known as pacemaker channels) in the cell membrane can impede cell division and maturation of the nervous system during embryonic development. This can result in reduced brain volume and neurological disorders.

INUSpheresis® as a preventive therapy
The TKM58 membrane has a special and fine pore size and texture to selectively remove pathogenic proteins and protein-bound toxic substances.
This also reliably removes circulating solvents, pesticides and other substances that originate from our environmental pollution.
