Abstract

Summary of the study

Because current, therapeutic approaches to Alzheimer's disease (AD) remain disappointing, there is an urgent need for effective treatments. This study presents an overview of the emerging role of "metabolic inflammation" and stress as key factors in the pathogenesis of AD.

Based on recent findings and observations from an early pilot study, the presenters postulate a potential use of extracorporeal apheresis to prevent and treat Alzheimer's disease (AD).
